I start by offering a free of charge 30 minute telephone consultation where we can discuss your difficulty and assess how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy could help. Following this, if you would like to commence therapy, we would book an appointment to start treatment.
To get the most from therapy it is recommended to initially have weekly appointments, which are 50 minutes long. I am able to carry out therapy either face-to-face, over the phone, through home visits or over a Skype type service.
I can take referrals from the following insurance companies:
About Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
For the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is recommended by the NICE guidelines. CBT looks at the links between our thoughts, behaviours, emotions and physical feelings. When we are experiencing stress, anxiety or low mood these can cause us to fall into unhelpful cycles that result in worsening our mood / anxiety. CBT targets these by identifying our unhelpful thoughts and behaviour patterns, then using different techniques to break the cycles and improve mood. CBT does this by working in the present, identifying specific difficulties and setting goals to focus and facilitate change.
There is further information available on the BABCP website.
